When our hero Freddie returns home he faces many trials: his increasingly vague father, his mother’s attempts to get him married off, and the villainous Phillips-Phillips family. Kingsham Manor is awash with unlikely romantic gestures, scheming servants and horticultural sabotage, and everything is heading towards the pivotal Annual Cricket Match.
