17/7/08 New Look Site
At last, I've got
round to putting up Beth's awesome design up, and now I'm going to make
sure the links all go to where they say they do, and everything is up
to date. This will probably take a while though. And be warened, if you
click on some of them you'll end up in the old site, and you may not
make it back again.
24/4/08 Something's different...
...have you changed your hair? No, but this page is more blue orange than it used to be! (Actually, for all I know you have changed your hair, and probably got new shoes, I don't know do I...?) Anyway, the important thing is that stuff's happening:(I do realise that most people know all this already, but just in case you're not on whatever mailing lists, here it is.)
5th may - Two Shades of Blue Auditions - OULES and CULES go to the Edinburgh Fringe! You'll need to be around in August.
Some time after the end of term - VOLES 2008 - Varsity Oxbridge Light Entertainment Society, basically OULES and CULES go camping!
8th Week TT08 - Garden Performances - Wadham Warden's Garden on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday!
Tuesday of 8th -AGM- Probably. We all go for a meal after the first night show, and agree with the nominations for next year's committee. More on that at a later date...
Lastly, STASH! Discussion is raging on -social as to what everybody wants, and at some point we might manage to decide on something.
If you want any more info about any of this, email someone and ask. Preferably a Dan.
By the way, the menu on the left doesn't do anything (yet....).
15/2/08 A Funny thing... performances.
St Johns College Auditorium, 8th week, Wednesday 7.30, Thursday 7.30, Friday 6.30. Be there or be ... somewhere else? There's a facebook group here, if you're that way inclined.4/2/08 Some really 'new' news.
sort of, anyway. As -social may have told you, we don't have the Moser for 8th week, and are in the process of finding somewhere else. Everything seems under control, but if you do have a particularly good suggestion, email one of the Dans with it.Secondly, we're also looking for writers for our trinity term plays. As I understand it we will have about four short shows, ~30 minutes long each; thus allowing opportunities for first time writers to have a go, or for if you've had a great idea but not the time to turn it into an epic yet, or if you just want to orchestrate a bit of Lightly Entertaining Silliness.
29/01/08 A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Rome
is this terms show, an 'ancient' Greek comedy with a twist. You've missed the auditions by now, but you could always email the directors (Jon Foulds or Iona Sharma) if you want to know more. This term we're doing a separate 8th week show, 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Rome', and a musical review to be taken to old peoples' homes. I would imagine that, as usual, 'A Funny Thing...' will be on Tuesday to Thursday of 8th week, at about 7.30 in the Moser Theatre, Wadham; however exact confirmation will... emerge... nearer the time. There have, of course, been other performances between news updates, such as our panto Aladdin last term; but as they have all alreedy happened, they're not exactly news anymore. Hence, I won't be telling you where and when auditions were, or anything else like that.28/12/06 Alice In Wonderland
This Hilary term we are putting on Alice In Wonderland. Auditions are on Sunday of 1st Week (14th Jan), from 7 - 10pm in the Old Seminar Room in Wadham College. 13/1/03: Lots of news:
Aladdin was a huge success - very silly, big audiences, groans galore. We went to South London for New Year and had a great view of all the fireworks across the whole city. Also spent three days in a big room with some people from Cambridge playing 3-D noughts and crosses. I think there might have been some booze too.
This term we're doing TWO PLAYS!!! There are so many of us now!! They will be 'The wind in the Willows' as adapted by James Needham and revised by Ben Parker, and 'A Charming Little Murder Mystery' as written by the wonderful Cath Howdle. Miles Gould and Dominic Mattos will be directing, auditions will be early in term and I'll shove times up here when I know.
24/10/02: Finally, International Fame:
The plan to take over the world is progressing nicely. Some 'bumbling Alaskans' are considering staging our version of The Three Musketeers. Impressed yet?19/10/02: New OULES meet on Sunday:
If you've only just found out about us, you can come along on this Sunday (ie 20/10/02) and meet Cath, our president, at 7:45 in Wadham lodge before coming along to our rehearsal at 8.Be warned, though, that there are only a couple of small speaking parts left as well as several parts doing silly dancing. Usually we would write in more parts for everyone but it's just not do-able right now.
Still, coming to rehearsals and sitting at the sides eating biscuits is a giggle whether or not you're acting, and we'll sort you out with good parts next term.
17/10/02: Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsals will be every Wednesday and Sunday, 8pm-10pm, in Wadham Old Seminar Room. If you're late or skiving without reasonable excuse you will incurbiscuit-debt. If you want to be involved but haven't contacted us yet, email Lid:lydia.menzies @ exeter.oxford.ac.uk but be warned that we have a fairly full cast now.Old News: This Term's Production:
The production for Michaelmas term 2002 will be Aladdin. It is currently being written by Lid, Cath, Andrea and assorted other geniuses. Genii? Um. Anyway, the bits I have seen are pythonesque miracles of bad punning. So it will be good. It will be directed by Lid.Old News: New Committee:
